What is the right way to communicate internally? How should a collective be designed? Questions for a workshop with edifying results.
Team DuKE (internal code name) is a group of dedicated individuals who take care of complex technical challenges within the interface team in ICT at NÖ Landeskliniken-Holding. The team consists of stakeholders from different subdivisions and has very flexible structures. Internal communication has not followed any clear structures to date. The resulting overhead costs had to be reduced. But how do you optimize communication?
We addressed this question in a joint workshop. Here, too, we decided to use the LEGO® Serious Play® method.
To develop a solution, we proceeded as follows:
- Introduction, clarify the task and go through LEGO® Serious Play® Skills Building
- Gathering individual perspectives on the current situation
- Determine individual perspectives of the target state
- Collaborative development of a target state that every team member can identify with
- Agreement on a follow-up appointment to plan the specific measures that will lead to the target state
The result was a clear picture of the current situation including of the current structures, areas of responsibility and information flows. Future-oriented communication structures could be thought up via the wishes and requirements of the employees. This enabled the planning of concrete measures that led to the elaborated target state.
